ENGINEERED WITH PURPOSE

Reason We Make a Single Skin Bulkhead

The original double skin bulkheads had inherent corrosion problems caused by putting sheet metal on top of sheet metal, allowing moisture to soak between the layers - especially prevalent in the footbox area.

Even new bulkheads constructed from the same original design will fail for the same reason. Shielder bulkheads are made from thicker stronger single sheet metal, removing the need to double ply the steel in the footbox area.

The thicker steel also protects the bulkhead during the high temperatures of hot dip galvanising, resulting in a strong, durable bulkhead perfect for restorations.

Impact Fabrications Limited, founder and owner of Shielder Chassis, is a family-owned business established in 1991. We started out manufacturing steel products for a number of specialist industries and now focus solely on manufacturing Land Rover parts.

Many of our team are Land Rover owners and enthusiasts. Collectively we have restored many Series and Defender Land Rovers. We know all too well the struggles faced with repairing rotted chassis and bulkheads.
